Redding Therapists Helping Couples, Individuals & Families Achieve and Maintain Positive Mental and Emotional Health

Michelle Kamla, MS in Psychology

Being a wife, a mother, and now a Grammy is truly the best job in the world. Every day feels like a new chance to grow and learn, both from God and from the people around me.

My professional journey has also been guided by faith. For over fourteen years, I’ve worked in county social services, helping domestic violence survivors, supporting those in recovery from addiction, and working with individuals facing mental health challenges. During my internship, I focused my research and practice on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex trauma. I’ve had the privilege of watching clients experience healing in ways that feel nothing short of miraculous. Along the way, I also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), giving me the tools to help those with dissociative disorders.

I graduated from Simpson University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and earned my Master’s in Social Work, with a mental health emphasis, from Chico State University in 2012. I’m also state-certified by the California Association of Addiction Recovery and Resources (CAARR), where I’ve been an instructor for ten years and have worked in various roles over the years. I’m grateful for the opportunity to practice therapy under the guidance of Guy Ascherman at Higher Ground Counseling.
